Epsom Hillside Entertainer

This busy family of 5 loves the outdoors, but their garden on the side of Te Kōpuke in Epsom, Auckland offered little in the way of useable space, and didn’t draw them outside. Our design created extra entertaining space off their home, as well as breakaway areas for a spa, and firepit.

Careful retention of the beautiful established trees was a priority, and the new planting, patio, and different levels of the garden perfectly fulfil the needs of all family members, both together and individually.

Paremoremo Lifestyle Home

This lifestyle block in Paremoremo, North Auckland is home to a young family, who are committed to improving the ecological and aesthetic attributes of their property. The addition of a 14m long infinity pool and built in spa, flowing directly off the covered entertaining area, gives a resort like feel, and blends seamlessly into the landscape.

Other additions to this property include a potager; riparian and pond landscaping and planting.

Remuera Pool Area Renovation

This much loved pool in urban Remuera had a very tired and dated surrounding landscape. The renovation involved a new poured concrete pool surround; retaining to create cohesive levels; seating; better access around the pool and through to other areas; and freshening up the colours to a more contemporary palette.

This resulted in a fantastic entertaining space that enhances the home, and provides areas for lounging, seating, swimming, and relaxing in the hot tub

The Plantation Ngunguru

The steeply sloping property, nestled in the hills above Ngunguru, was purchased as a passion project. Very rundown, the potential of the protected, north-facing valley was unlocked by terracing using local stone; creation of an off-grid cabin for guests; and regenerating a productive crop of ladyfinger bananas, fruit trees, and herbs. Irrigation, nutrition of the land, and pest and weed control, resulted in a true paradise, in a place like no other, enjoyed by hundreds of people from all corners of the globe.

Rammed Earth Home Ngunguru

A unique home which is still under construction, the arrival of two children in 2 years necessitated outdoor spaces that are safe, functional, and useable for all ages. The central courtyard provides a growing aspect similar to a glass house, and has cropped papaya, bananas, and other tropical fruits, as well as a range of flowers and herbs. In daily use, the kids play area has a natural feel with wildflowers, herbs, and inground trampoline.

The intention is that this garden will develop and grow along with the family, with future plans including a pool, outdoor entertaining area, and more productive gardens.

Mount Albert Family Backyard

While undergoing a major home renovation, this sports loving family decided to invest in creating a backyard that would be enjoyed as their family grew up. The retention of existing palms, and a brief of a tropical garden, led to a large pool in a beautiful teal hue, lawn, and linking boardwalks, with densely planted gardens.

Remuera Executive Front Garden

This compact front garden serves multiple purposes – and includes off street parking, pedestrian entry, and a relaxation space. The Miami Modern vibe, with breeze blocks, plaster walls, and tropical planting, is a timeless look which perfectly complements the stylish interior of the home.

Mount Albert City View Entry & Patio

The owners requested a new landscape that extended the use of their home, and gave street appeal and extra space for entertaining and relaxation. North-facing, the space is maximised by raising the level of the land to create a flat entry and courtyard, as well as capturing the view towards the Auckland CBD skyline. The contemporary planting includes flowers, clipped hedges and topiary, and provides year-round interest, as well as scent, and picking flowers.
